Hello! I’m Alyssa (she/they)

Licensed Professional Counselor # C7776

I’m the operator of Psychedelic Art Therapy LLC & a practicing therapist in the state of Oregon. Outside of these roles, I’m a mixed media and immersive artist. I have been dancing since childhood and have been a mindfulness practitioner for the last nine years. I’m a lifelong learner. I’m usually reading three books at once and will tell you about them each with the same level of excitement. Since relocating to the Pacific Northwest, I have fallen in love with wildcrafting and foraging.

I have experience as an individual therapist, a mindfulness group facilitator, an art therapy group facilitator, a psychedelic peer support specialist, a public speaker, an author, and a researcher.  These roles synthesize together to inform how I approach the therapeutic relationship.

I have worked in a diverse array of clinical and creative environments, including a children’s hospital, an addiction recovery center, a low income clinical mental health agency, private research studies, and an immersive art collective.

My clients can tend to be people who are highly sensitive or have been described as previously “too much” (fact: you are not too much).

I love working with creatives who want to explore their artistic practice as a path of healing.

My clients of all genders feel empowered to explore relationships and the impact that one’s family of origin holds on one’s relationship with self and others.

I want to support people in gaining self-intimacy and self-acceptance.

I want to work with people who are open to gaining new tools in their tool belt to make it through this wild journey of life.

I’m especially passionate about working with folks in the LGBTQIA+ community or those involved in sex work.

My Approach & Values

  • A client-centered approach identifies the client as the expert in their own healing. Warmth and unconditional positive regard are traits that I bring to all of my sessions. I may have specific skills and tools to offer, they are offered to fit your unique needs as you explore knowing yourself deeper.

  • Curiosity is the fuel that keeps therapy moving. When one can get curious about their suffering and/or triggers, it can lead to great understanding of the wounded parts that lie underneath the surface.

  • Mindfulness and an experiential approach go hand in hand. Mindfulness simply means to become conscious or aware of something. An experiential approach may look like integrating practices (art, meditation practices, breath-work) and seeing what emotions arise. An experiential approach to therapy can lead to profound insight about one’s self and potentially teach someone skills that may aid in their emotional regulation in their everyday life.

  • My values as a counselor include authenticity, compassion, patience, inclusivity, and a commitment to growth.

If these traits and my lived experience resonate with you, please reach out and set up a 15 minute free consultation call.

I would be thrilled to join you on your journey of healing.
